1947 A Restaurant Story: Jawaharlal has a deep connection with this place, know the current situation

Gauhar/Delhi: As historic as Old Delhi is, so are its markets and many of its shops. There is a shop called ‘Al Jawahar’ which is in the form of a restaurant, and which was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehruji himself, and since then the restaurant bears his name and keeps his memory alive.

Akram Qureshi, the owner of this restaurant, said that he manages it along with his two brothers. The restaurant was started in 1947, although it was registered in 1948. He also revealed that the restaurant was started by his grandfather, then taken over by his father.

Akram said politicians and celebrities usually come here to relish the mutton korma, kebabs, mutton nihari, khamiri roti and many other dishes prepared by him. To reach this restaurant, you have to alight at Jama Masjid Metro Station via Violet Line. Coming out of Gate No. 1, you will see this restaurant at the very beginning of entering the famous Matia Mahal Market, located opposite the Jama Masjid. The restaurant is open seven days a week and you can come anytime from 8:00 am to 1:00 am.
