“2 different cases of sexual harassment in the same hotel cannot be coincidental”: DWC chief

The commission said it received information that in two separate incidents, two men sexually assaulted two 15-year-old girls multiple times at a hotel in Delhi.

DCW president Swati Maliwal said, “We have received information about two separate cases of sexual harassment of minors in hotels. This cannot be just a coincidence, action should be taken against the owner/manager of the hotel. Cases of sexual harassment of minors have come to light in Delhi in the past as well. We are checking what are the guidelines issued by Delhi Police regarding booking/staying of minors in hotels and ensuring their safety.

Let it be known that an FIR has been registered in Jagatpuri police station in both these cases. Several such cases have also come to light in the past where some minor girls were allegedly sexually abused by the accused in the hotel. In this regard, DCW President Swati Maliwal has sent a notice to the Delhi Police and sought a report on the action taken in this matter.

The commission has sought details of the action taken against the hotel. It also asked whether the manager/owner of the hotel had been arrested or not and sought details of any aggregator’s connection with the hotel.

The DCW has also sought details of FIRs in which sexual harassment of women and minor girls has been registered in hotels and the current status of the case and whether Delhi Police has been asked to take action against hotels where minors are sexually harassed. There are cases of harassment.
