Toronto. Bees have caused a stir in the city of Toronto and its surroundings in Canada. This is not a small swarm of bees, but a vortex of 5 million bees. Due to the uncontrollable situation, the police had to declare an emergency. In fact, a truck is being cited as the reason for such a large number of bees on the roads. Several boxes full of bees kept in the truck were exposed on the road. To avoid this, the police have asked people to keep the windows of vehicles and houses closed.
The tragedy happened when the bees were being transported to their winter quarters, AP reported. Halton Regional Police officers said they received a call at 6:15 a.m. that several boxes of wax had fallen from a truck on the Guelph Line north of Dundas Street in Burlington, Ontario. Police said, “The boxes were literally on the road and swarms of bees were flying around. A beekeeper was at the scene, stung multiple times by the bees. As the bees began to disperse, police warned pedestrians to stay away from the area, urging residents and passing motorists to keep their windows down.
The police also put up a notice on social media about the incident, following which several beekeepers contacted the police and offered their help. As soon as the incident was reported, six-seven beekeepers reached the spot. Beekeeper Michael Barber told the BBC: “There were so many flying bees that even the beekeepers in full suit panicked.” “Some beekeepers have also been stung,” he said. According to reports, within 3 hours, most of the nearly five million bees were safely captured. However, the operation to catch them is still going on.
