Harry Brook made a scapegoat for Ben Stokes? Said- Can I complain?

Read on the application

Batsman Harry Brook is England’s rising star. He made his international debut in September last year and dominated. He has scored 1181 runs at an average of 62.15 in 12 matches in the longest format. He has played only 3 three ODIs so far adding 86 runs. There was a possibility that Brooke would be selected in the England squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India but it did not happen. England recently announced their preliminary 15-man squad for the World Cup, which did not include Brook. Test captain and all-rounder Ben Stokes has been included in the squad. Stokes has taken back his ODI retirement after being informed by the team management. It is being said that Stokes has made Brook a scapegoat.

Brook, 24, has broken his silence on being left out of the World Cup squad. He said he can’t complain because Stokes is one of the best players. “Obviously it’s disappointing not to be selected but there’s nothing I can do about it at the moment,” Brook said after the London Spirit vs Northern Superchargers match in The Hundred. You just have to keep going. I’m trying not to think about it too much anymore.

He further said, “I haven’t had much interaction with Matthew Mott (limited-overs coach) or Jos Buttler (limited-overs captain). He said I won’t get a chance this time after taking back Stokes’ retirement. Stokes is one of the best players to have ever played cricket. So I can’t really complain, can I?”

Ben Stokes’s reaction, U-turn, Moeen Ali will be remembered after his ODI retirement

Notably, Stokes played an important role in England winning the World Cup in 2019. Stokes scored 465 runs in 11 matches at an average of 66.43 and took 7 wickets in the tournament. He scored an unbeaten 84 in the final. On Stokes’ return, England selector Luke Wright said that his arrival will provide the team with a match winner and his leadership skills will also come into play. Fans will enjoy seeing him back in an England ODI shirt.
