New Delhi. The first match of the T20 series between the Indian team arriving in Ireland and the host team was played on 18 August at The Village. In this exciting match, the Indian team managed to win by two runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method. There was a moment during the match when all the Indian fans stopped breathing for a moment.

Rituraj Gaikwad came into the field along with Yashaswi Jaiswal to chase the target of 140 runs given by the Irish team. Both the batsmen were moving with a steady step, but there was a big accident on the third ball of the second over.

Indeed, Joshua Little was bowling the second over for Ireland. The third ball of the over hit the Thai pad of Yashshwi Jaiswal and it went to the non-strike end for a run. Meanwhile Gaekwad returned to his crease when he saw the ball in the fielder’s hands.

The situation was such that for a few moments both the players stood at the same end. Here the opposition team had a great chance to run out Yashaswi, but he missed due to a wrong throw. After the ball was released from the fielder, Rituraj showed speed up the field and completed the run at the strike end.

Coming to the performances of Yashaswi and Rituraj in the first T20 match, Yashaswi opened the innings where he managed to score 24 runs off 23 balls with three fours and a six. At the same time, Rituraj contributed an unbeaten 19 off 16 balls with a four and a six.

Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah was declared ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant bowling during the match. The 29-year-old fast bowler bowled a total of four overs in the first T20 match for the Blue team. Meanwhile, took two wickets for 24 runs with an economy of 6.00. Andrew Balbirnie and wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker were the victims of Bumrah.
