Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI announced the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2023. Cricket experts gave their opinion after seeing this squad of 17 players. In this episode, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir advised Shivam Dubey over Shardul Thakur as Hardik Pandya’s backup. However, former Indian cricketer Sunil Joshi does not agree with his strange advice. Shivam Dubey may be scoring runs in T20, but this format is completely different, says Joshi. Along with this, he also raised questions on the bowling and fielding of this all-rounder.

Should Virat Kohli bat at number 4? Akash Chopra replied with logic

Gambhir said during a conversation on Star Sports, ‘One name they (selectors) should definitely consider is Shivam Dubey, because in the form he is in, you need backup for Hardik Pandya. Shardul Thakur cannot be like that. Shardul Thakur cannot be Hardik’s backup.

Disagreeing with his statement, Sunil Joshi said, ‘No, I don’t think so. We have seen Shivam Dubey. He is scoring in T20 but it is a different format and tournament. With respect to Gautama, I would like to say that this is my view. Shivam Dubey has struggled in both bowling and fielding.

Gambhir also suggested picking either Yuzvendra Chahal or Ravi Bishnoi as the right-arm wrist spinner in the Asia Cup squad.

Now the real test of Team India will begin, note everything related to Asia Cup and World Cup!

Gambhir said, ‘It is a good team, I think a good team has been selected, but a wrist spinner is needed somewhere. This is a seam-heavy team and I think Ravi Bishnoi or Yuzvendra Chahal should be picked depending on the circumstances when you are playing. Indian team must have two wrist spinners.
