Titus sells rights to domestic matches for 3 years
New Delhi. The coffers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India are to be filled. BCCI has got a new title sponsor for Team India’s home matches. IDFC First Bank has overtaken Sony Sports to acquire the domestic series rights in India for the next three years. The new contract will run until August 2026. IDFC First Bank will pay Rs 4.2 crore to BCCI as title sponsor for each match. The deal is for 56 home matches over the next 3 years.
The base price of the auction to win the title rights of the Indian cricket team was set at Rs 2.4 crore, meaning the auction started with this amount and IDFC First Bank was in direct competition with Sony Sports and the bank won the bid. . According to reports, apart from Sony Sports, no other company participated in the auction.
Earlier MasterCard was paying BCCI Rs 3.8 crore for each match. He got this right from fintech company Paytm and the two companies were paying the Board of Control for Cricket in India just Rs 3.8 crore for each match. This time a bid of Rs 4.2 crore was made by IDFC First Bank. That means BCCI will get an additional Rs 40 lakh for each match as compared to last time.
