England have announced their starting squad for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. From cricket fans to pundits alike, the budding young batsman Harry Brooke is surprised not to be included in the England squad. Brooke’s card was cut due to star cricketer Ben Stokes, who recently took back his ODI retirement. Stokes played an important role in England winning the World Cup in 2019. However, England’s limited-overs captain Jos Buttler has now made a big claim about Brook.

Butler insists the world team door is not completely closed for 24-year-old Brook. The English skipper opined that there is still time to announce the final squad for the next World Cup and anything can happen. Let us tell you that the World Cup will be held from October 5 to November 19. Defending champions England will face New Zealand in the opening match. England won the title four years ago by defeating New Zealand in the final.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, Buttler said, “There is still a lot of time for the players to board the plane, so we will wait and see what happens.” We all know Harry is a great player and we have seen what he can do recently. Not that this is surprising. We know how powerful a player he is. It was unfortunate not to find a place in the team at present. Things changed a bit with the return of Ben Stokes and his availability as a batsman. Ben is a great player. In such a situation it is really a difficult decision to make a choice.

Notably, before the World Cup, England will play a limited overs series at home against New Zealand. The four-match T20 series between the two teams will begin on August 30. Brook is part of the T20 squad but not in the ODI squad. The four-match ODI series will begin on September 8.
