When the director lost his life after being bitten by a snake, the real incident happened on the film sets

New Delhi: The story of the shooting of the film ‘Pyaas’ in the year 1982 still gives goosebumps. To shoot a scene in the film, director OP Relhan called a snake charmer along with his venomous snakes on the set. Preparations were underway for a scene with a poisonous snake, but OP Relhan wanted to touch the snake before the shoot.

OP Relhan risked his life because of his curiosity. According to reports, when the director tried to touch the snake, it responded and grabbed its thumb. OP Relhan panicked and grabbed the snake by its neck and threw it away. There was an uproar on the set. All the actors were scared for fear of some major untoward incident.

The director’s life was saved by the poison
OP Relhan’s body began to be poisoned, but the director was given an antidote before his health deteriorated further. Shooting resumed the next day when OP Relhan’s health began to improve. Everyone was happy to see the director back on the set, but the snake was sitting in a corner with its mouth hanging.

The venomous snake died instantly
When OP Relhan asked the snake charmer about his snake, he said that the snake was dead. In fact, OP Relhan squeezed the snake’s neck so hard that it lost its life. It was a rare incident that took place on the sets of the movie ‘Pyaas’, where a snake lost its life after biting a man. Let us tell you that OP Relhan, the director of memorable films like ‘Talaash’, ‘Halchal’ and ‘Fool Aur Pathar’, made many budding actors stars. He wrote, produced and directed several films in the 60s and 70s.
