Ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, the Bangladesh team has received a major setback. BCB’s Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Jalal Younus has confirmed that Liton Das will not be part of Bangladesh’s squad for the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka today due to fever. Jalal told Daily Star today, “Lyton is suffering from fever. He has tested negative for dengue. So if he recovers soon, he will take the next flight to Sri Lanka, but if he doesn’t recover, we have to think. replacement.”
The Bangladesh team has left for Sri Lanka from Dhaka at 12.55 pm. Apart from Liton Das, young fast bowler Tanjim Hasan Shakib also missed the flight. The right-arm fast bowler was brought in at the last minute to replace the injured Ibadat Hussain. He will travel on the next flight as his ticket is not yet confirmed. Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in their first match in the Asia Cup on August 31 in Pallekele.
