Neeraj Chopra 88.17M Throw Video: India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra has created history by winning the gold medal in the World Championship. Neeraj, who won silver in this competition last year, managed to change the color of his medal to gold this year. He became the first athlete from India to win a gold medal at the World Championships. Along with this, he has become the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to wear the tricolor at the Olympics as well as the World Championships. Although Neeraj could not clear the second 90m in the final, he shot 88.17m in his second attempt to bag the gold medal. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem finished second with a throw of 87.82 meters.
Let us tell you that apart from Neeraj, two other Indians, DP Manu and Kishore Jena, also managed to enter the final of the javelin event. Both these athletes did not manage to win a medal, but definitely made India proud by finishing in the top-6.
India’s Kishore Jena finished fifth with a personal best throw of 84.77m. DP Manu finished sixth with a best throw of 84.14m.
