MBBS: National Medical Commission has started preparations to change the syllabus of MBBS. In future, medical students will be required to pass MBBS first year in four attempts. Till now there was no limit. If students do not pass they will be debarred. Also, MBBS must be passed within ten years, otherwise the dream of becoming a doctor will be denied. In connection with this preparation, on Saturday, the National Medical Commission held a virtual meeting with principals and medical faculties of all medical colleges along with GSVM Medical College and presented a 21-point agenda for change. Medical College Principal Prof. Sanjay Kala said that in the meeting NMC clarified that biometrics will be required for students and faculty. There will be no preclinical and no clinical. All sections will be called clinical only.
Departments of Respiratory Medicine, Emergency Medicine, PMR will be exempted from UG-run Medical Colleges only for upcoming new Medical Colleges and reserved for PG (MD/DNB) and Post Doctorate (DM) courses. Emergency will be one. PMR will be in Ortho department. The total marks of theory and practical should be 50%. Students fail in any subject of MBBS stage, they have to join junior batch immediately for the whole semester to pass it. Supplementary examination will be conducted within 5 weeks of the new examination. Yoga classes will be held. Henceforth there will be no visit to NMC for batch identification. No student will be sent abroad for MBBS degree. Once a student takes admission in a college, he has to clear MBBS from the same college.
