Fencing: East Champaran wins 26 medals to become overall champion in state level competition

East Champaran fencers showcased their talent in the two-day state level sub-junior, cadet, junior fencing competition organized by Bihar Fencing Association at Khel Bhawan, Lakhisarai. In this competition, the swordsmen of the district won 8 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals and bagged the overall champion title.

Bihar Fencing Association cum East Champaran Fencing Association Joint Secretary Appu Kumar and instructor Rakesh Kumar said that the fencers who won medals in the state level competition will participate in the national fencing competition. It may be noted that 150 fencers from 16 districts participated in this state level competition.

East Champaran won two, Patna team won one
In the sub-junior boys category, East Champaran was the winner while the team from Patna was the runner-up. In the sub-junior girls category, East Champaran was also the winner while the team from Patna was the runner-up. In the cadet girls category, Patna was the winner while the team from East Champaran was the runner-up.

In U-14 age group boys’ saber event, district Sunny won gold, Rajesh won silver medal in EP event, Adarsh ​​Pankaj won bronze medal. Similarly, Kesar Raje won gold and Ashi won bronze medals in foil event of girls category. In saber event, Aastha Bharti got silver and Kriti Kumari got bronze. Ravi Kumar Yadav won gold, Amul Parasare won silver and Himanshu Raj won bronze in the under-17 age group boys EP event. While in foil event, Aditya Ranjan got gold, Yuvank Raj got silver and Aditya Raj got bronze medal. Sunny won gold medal in saber event. Keshar Raj won the gold medal in the girls category foil event.

East Champaran’s Ravi Kumar Yadav bagged gold medal, Sunny Prakash silver medal and Amul Parasar and Utkarsh bronze medals in under-20 age group boys EP event. Also in foil event Shivam Kumar got silver and Aditya Ranj got bronze medal. While Gaurav Kumar won the bronze medal in the saber event. Similarly, Anshika Kumari bagged a silver medal in the girls EP event, Keshar Raje bagged a gold medal in the foil event and Kumkum Kumari bagged a bronze medal in the saber event. Happiness was seen on the faces of the swordsmen after receiving the medals.
