In an exclusive conversation with NDTV Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Puglia, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that we expect a unanimous statement from all countries at the G20 meeting to be held in Delhi next week. He said that India’s G20 presidency is unique. India today is a respectable country.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the current G20 meeting is important as the world is affected by economic and environmental crisis and war. He said that the world situation is more alarming. Although the G20 began with a small mandate, the problems were to grow as they grew.

“2023 is more complicated. We have faced pandemics and the impact has been catastrophic. In addition there are fuel conflicts and food impacts in Europe. Climate events are becoming more frequent with economic consequences,” the foreign minister said. The world is more alarming than ever.”
He said, “The G20 is about food-energy-climate. Nothing will change until we change our daily lifestyles and make climate-friendly changes.”
But to the common man, politics is a “world away” and the government is trying to raise issues in the G20 that they can understand. It is also necessary to look at the steps taken to control the situation.
“There is a need to focus on how to democratize global supply chains and encourage green growth through sustainability,” he said. The minister said bridging the gap in investment flows, digital equity and gender issues is important. If the G20 does not raise these issues, then who will?”
