Dharmendra-Amitabh was hit by this director, pani-pani near Big B, could not see Dharma

Mumbai. Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan are the veteran actors of the Bollywood industry, before whom the entire industry bows down. Both of them dominated their performances in that period as well and they still hold sway even today. But there was also a director in the industry who scolded both Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan in front of everyone on the sets of the film. Even after the rebuke, Dharmendra and Amitabh could not speak a single word to the director and quietly got busy shooting the film. When the film released at the box office, both the directors were thanked as the film turned out to be a blockbuster.

We are going to tell you the famous story of Dharmendra-Amitabh Bachchan and that director, which you might not be aware of. This story is from the 1975 film ‘Chupke Chupke’. It was a comedy-drama film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Hrishikesh Mukherjee has earlier done evergreen films like ‘Anand’, ‘Guddi’, ‘Golmaal’, ‘Namak Halal’ and ‘Anupama’.

It is said that Hrishikesh Mukherjee did not brief the actors about the scenes, only handing over the respective costumes to them when the shooting of the respective scenes was about to begin. Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan were not aware of this. Due to this, both of them were hit hard on the sets of the film.

In fact, for a scene in ‘Chupke Chupke’, Asrani was given a suit to wear and Dharmendra was given the driver’s clothes. Both actors were confused about the costumes as they knew nothing about the scene. Dharmendra didn’t understand so he asked Asrani, “Have I become your driver?” You got the suit and I got the driver’s clothes. Asrani said he didn’t know either.

Then Hrishikesh Mukherjee, who was sitting next to him, who was playing chess, shouted at Dharmendra and said, “Dharm… what are you asking Asrani… if you had this much understanding of the story, you would be a hero today.” Dharmendra was flooded with water from Rishikesh. Amitabh Bachchan was unaware of this when he was on the set of the film. Seeing Asrani in a suit, he asked the question, “Why are you in a suit? Whose office is on set?”

When Rishikesh Mukherjee heard this, he got angry. He scolded Amitabh worse than Dharmendra. He said, “What are you asking, the scene or the story? Tell Dharam Amit what I told you. If people had this kind of understanding, you would not be a film hero today, you would be a director. Work in peace.” Amitabh and Dharmendra may have been disappointed by the jingle, but both became fans of Hrishikesh Mukherjee when the film became a hit.
