Pakistan has made a winning start in Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan won by 238 runs against Nepal on Wednesday. Pakistan scored 342/6 and bowled out Nepal for 104 runs in 23.4 overs. Captain Babar Azam (151 off 131 balls) and Iftikhar Ahmed (109 not out off 71 balls) played brilliant centuries for Pakistan. In this match, explosive records were created. – Pakistan registered the second biggest win in the history of Asia Cup. India holds the record for the biggest win in terms of runs in the tournament. In 2008, India won against Hong Kong by 256 runs. India scored 374/4 in that match and Hong Kong were bowled out for 114 runs in reply.
– Babar Azam has played the second biggest innings in Asia Cup history. He is the greatest batsman of India Virat Kohli Missed out on breaking the 11-year-old record. If Babar had scored 33 more runs, he would have set the record for the biggest innings in the Asia Cup. This record is currently held by Kohli. Kohli played an innings of 183 runs against Pakistan in 2012.
– Babar became the fastest player to score 19 ODI centuries. He touched this figure in 102 innings. He has surpassed former South African legend Hashim Amla and Kohli. Amla scored 19 ODI centuries in 104 innings while Kohli scored 19 ODI centuries in 124 innings.
– Babar has reached the sixth position in terms of scoring most centuries at the age of 28. This is his 31st international century. The great batsman Sachin Tendulkar (60) tops the list. He is followed by Kohli (49), Ricky Ponting (34), Joe Root (33) and Kane Williamson (33).
– Babar and Iftikhar shared the third highest partnership in Asia Cup history. Both added 214 runs for the fifth wicket against Nepal. The record for the highest partnership in the tournament is held by Hafeez and Jamshed, who added 224 runs against India in 2012. Younis and Malik shared 223 runs in the tournament while Kohli and Rahane shared 213 runs.
