The Haryana government has increased the honorarium of village watchmen to Rs 11,000

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday announced to increase the honorarium of village watchmen to Rs 11,000 per month. Earlier, the village watchman was given an honorary salary of seven thousand rupees per month. He gets one cycle every five years and every year Rs. 4,000 will also get a uniform allowance.

Besides this the watchman will get one thousand rupees per annum for pillar and torch battery. An official statement said the Chief Minister met representatives of village watchmen from across the state including Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Charkhi Dadri, Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Karnal.

Emphasizing the important role of village watchmen in rural areas, Khattar said their service is important in birth and death registration as well as marriage registration. Khattar said that now the village watchman will also get Rs 5 lakh in case of accidental death.

He said that the increased honorarium of watchmen will be implemented from October, 2023 and they will get the increase from November. Khattar said that village watchmen will be given a one-time benefit of Rs 2 lakh on retirement just like Anganwadi workers.
