Australia started their tour of South Africa with a resounding win. The Kangaroo team is on this tour to play a three-match T20I series along with a five-match ODI series. The tour started with the first T20 match played in Durban and the Kangaroos registered a huge 111-run win over the hosts thanks to a storming innings by captain Mitchell Marsh and explosive batsman Tim David. Australia has now taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Batting first, Australia posted a huge score of 226 runs on the board, against which the hosts were bowled out for just 115 runs. Marsh was awarded Player of the Match for his strong innings.

New Zealand suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of England, but captain Tim Southee created history.

Losing the toss and batting first, the Australian team did not get off to a good start. In the very first over, Travis Head fell victim to Marco Jansen. However, by the end of the powerplay, captain Mitchell Marsh had put the team in a strong position. However, in the meantime, the guests lost their 3 wickets.

Marsh was holding one end and scoring runs, but from the other end he was not getting long support from any of the batsmen. Tim David, who came in to bat after losing his fourth wicket in the form of Stoinis in the 7th over, put on a 97-run partnership with captain Marsh to take the team close to 200. David played a storming innings of 64 runs in just 28 balls with the help of 7 fours and 4 towering sixes. Captain Mitchell Marsh remained unbeaten after scoring 92 runs off 49 balls with the help of 13 fours and 2 sixes.

While Riza scored a half-century, no other batsman from the host team could even cross the 25-run mark. The entire South African team was restricted to 115 runs in just 15.3 overs. The next match of the series is scheduled to be played at the same ground on 1st September.
