Mumbai. ‘The line starts from where we stand…’. Have you heard this dialogue many times? Hearing this, one remembers Amitabh Bachchan’s powerful voice and angry look. This dialogue is counted among Amitabh’s most hit dialogues. This hit of the 80s gave a new dimension to Amitabh’s career and made him one of the most special faces of that era. But if everything was fine, this dialogue would have been heard not by Amitabh Bachchan, but by Vinod Khanna or Dharmendra. Then why didn’t this happen? Come on, let’s tell…
First of all let us tell you about this movie. This is the blockbuster movie ‘Kalia’, which was released on 25 December 1981. The film was directed by Tinu Anand. Amitabh Bachchan played the lead role in this film. Pran, Parveen Babi, Asha Parekh, Kader Khan, Amjad Khan were also seen in important roles along with him in this film. Date problem and contact with Osho
When the story of the film ‘Kalia’ was ready, Tinu Anand was looking for an actor who could fit the angst. In such a situation the name of Main i.e. Dharmendra came up first. But Dharmendra could not be a part of this film due to date issue. After this Vinod Khanna was the actor who could live this character on screen, but at the same time he came in contact with Osho. In such a situation, he did not show interest in this film. Now Tinu Anand had only Amitabh Bachchan in mind, who fits the role perfectly.
Flop Grandson: Prithviraj Kapoor’s Failed Grandson, 19 Crore Blockbuster Trouble, Anger With Father
The special thing is that Tini Anand had to do many papad roles to tell the story of this film. Actually, Amitabh Bachchan was a busy actor of those times and he didn’t even have time to listen to new stories. In such a situation, Tinu once reached the sets of the film ‘Don’ behind Amitabh and after finishing the shot, he narrated the story to Amitabh. Also confidently said ‘I know you like the story, so don’t deny it’. Seeing Tinu’s faith, Amitabh agreed to the film. The film earned 30 crores.
