NEET UG Counseling, MBBS Admission: All three medical colleges in North Bihar cannot be the first choice of students. In the first round, only two students have taken admission in SKMCH, 18 in DMCH and 6 in GMCH Betia. These three medical colleges have 120 MBBS seats each. In fact, many students who reported for the first round of admissions have filled the option of upgradation to other medical colleges.
70 out of 72 upgraded
72 students reported for the first round of admission at SKMCH, but after coming here 70 students filled the form for upgrade. Only two students have reserved seats for admission. SKMCH Principal Prof. Abha Rani Sinha said that most of the students have filled the upgrade option. Admission in-charge Dr. Ananth said that the students are expected to come in the second round. Apart from SKMCH, DMCH had 73 students appear for admission in the first round, but only 18 got admission. The remaining 55 students chose to upgrade. In Government Medical College, Bettia, 82 students reported, but only six got admission. Completed 76 upgrades. Teachers said that most of the students have given the option of upgrading to PMSH and NMCH.
Only three bodies for use in the anatomy department
Only three cadavers are available for experiments in the anatomy department of SKMCH. 120 students are taught dissection on these three bodies. The Department of Surgery in Darbhanga Medical College is run in the Nursing College building. Betia Medical College lacks resources. Boys and girls hostels in SKMCH and DMCH are dilapidated.
SKMCH has only one permanent professor
There are no professors in the medical colleges of North Bihar. SKMCH has only one permanent professor. Rest of the posts are vacant. DMCH has four professors. There are only two professors in the Betiya Government Medical College. There is also a shortage of assistant and associate professors. Teachers have not been promoted in SKMCH for a long time. PG seats in medical college are available only on professorship. Due to non-availability of professors, there is a threat of reduction or abolition of PG seats in many departments.
