Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has termed Virat Kohli as a world-class player and said he knows what kind of tactics India’s star batsman needs to bowl. India and Pakistan face off in the Asia Cup on Saturday and ahead of that, Pakistan’s bowlers are working hard to meet Kohli’s challenge.
Shadab told Star Sports, “He (Kohli) is definitely a world-class player. You have to strategize a lot to deal with them. Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls to help India to a four-wicket win over Pakistan during the ICC T20 World Cup in Melbourne last year.
Recalling that innings, Shadab said, “The kind of batsman Virat Kohli is and the way he performed against us, the way he batted even in the last match of the T20 World Cup, I don’t think there is any other batsman in the world. He would have played such an innings in those types of conditions against our strong bowling attack.” He said, “And the most important thing is that he can play such an innings at any stage and at any time.”
Kohli has been in good form in the ODI format for some time now. He has scored 554 runs in 13 matches in this format since December last year but has averaged 50.36 during this period.
