New Delhi. The second match of Asia Cup 2023 was played on 31 August between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. In this exciting match, the Sri Lankan team managed to win by five wickets. Charit Asalanka looked in good rhythm while chasing the target. Batting at number five, he scored his highest unbeaten half-century of 62 off 92 balls at a strike rate of 67.39. Meanwhile, five fours and one six came out of his bat.
Bangladesh managed to score 164 runs.
After winning the toss in Pallekele and batting first, the Bangladesh team scored 164 runs in 42.4 overs. Batting at number three for the team, Nazmul Hussain Shanto managed to score the most runs. He faced a total of 122 balls against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, managed to score 89 runs at a strike rate of 72.95. Meanwhile seven fours came out of his bat. Tawheed Hridayoy was the team’s second highest scorer after Shanto. Hriday contributed 20 runs.
Matisha playing havoc with Pathira’s bowling:
Matisha Pathirana was the most successful bowler from Sri Lanka. He bowled a total of 7.4 overs for his team. In the meantime, he managed to score a maximum of four at the expense of 32 runs. Apart from Pathira, Mahesh Tikshana got two and Dhananjay de Silva, Dunith Velez and captain Dasun Shanaka got one respectively.
Charm of Asalanka and Samaravikrama:
Chasing the target, two batsmen from Sri Lanka managed to score half-centuries. Aslanka was batting at number five where she scored an unbeaten 62 off 92 balls. While batting at number four, Sadira Samarawickrama contributed 54 runs off 77 balls at a strike rate of 70.12. Apart from these two batsmen, other Sri Lankan batsmen also failed.
Shakib Al Hasan took 2 wickets:
Captain Shakib Al Hasan managed to achieve the highest two overs for Sri Lanka. Apart from him, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Mehdi Hasan managed to take one wicket each.
