He also acted in about 225 films, but became dependent on Pi-Pi in his final days. He did not even have money to buy medicines. We are talking about the best actor avatar Kishan Hangal i.e. AK Hangal who charmed everyone with his powerful dialogues. He was born on February 1, 1914 in Sialkot, Punjab. Which is now a part of Pakistan. Coming from a Kashmiri Pandit family, Ek Hangal spent his entire childhood in Peshawar. Few people know that before starting his career in acting, Ek was a Hangal tailor. He used to earn his living by doing tailoring. Worked as a stage artist from 1936 to 1965.
3 years imprisonment in freedom struggle
AK Hangal had an important contribution in the freedom struggle. He participated in the freedom struggle from 1929 to 1947. Due to this he remained in Karachi jail for almost three years. After coming out of jail, he shifted to Mumbai with his entire family.

Ek Hangal entered Bollywood at a time when many actors are thinking of retirement. At the age of 52, he made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Teesri Kasam’. When he was older, he mostly got roles of elders. His energetic performance breathes life into any scene. Rahim Chacha’s dialogue ‘Itna Sannata Kyon Hai Bhai’ from the movie ‘Sholay’ is one of them. AK Hangal acted in about 225 films in his career. These include films like Sholay, Ayana, Namak Haram, Manzil, Prem Bandhan, Heer Ranza, Arjun, Kora Kagaz, Shaukeen, Andhi and Vishkah.

AK Hangal lived in a small house with his son in his last years. There was a time when he had no money left even to buy medicines. Then many artists helped him. Once he slipped and fell in the bathroom at home, breaking his femur and sustaining a deep back injury. Health was deteriorating after continuous treatment. Finally on 26 August 2012 AK Hangal left this world.
