The number of transactions through the Unified Payments System (UPI) crossed 10 billion in August. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) gave this information on Thursday. NPCI is the lead organization of all retail payment systems in India. UPI is used for instant money transactions through mobile phones.

NPCI said on social media platform ‘Twitter’, “UPI has broken records in an astonishing manner with over 10 billion transactions. Join us in celebrating this incredible achievement and the power of digital payments. Let us continue this momentum and revolutionize the way transactions are done with UPI.”
According to NCPI data, the number of UPI transactions reached 10.24 billion on August 30. The value of these transactions was Rs 15,18,456.4 crore. The number of UPI transactions in July was 9.96 billion compared to 9.33 billion in June.
