A court has sentenced a man guilty of raping a minor girl to 20 years in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on him. In August 2019, accused Gaurav raped a 16-year-old minor girl. The accused was a resident of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh and lived in the neighborhood of the victim at the time of the incident. The court of Additional Sessions Judge Hemraj Mittal pronounced the sentence in this case.

Police spokesperson Subey Singh said that on August 26, 2019, the victim lodged her complaint at the Saran police station. She said that she is a student of sixth standard. Accused Gaurav lives in his neighbourhood. On the afternoon of 25th August, she went to her terrace, where accused Gaurav took her by the hand and took her to his room where he forcibly raped her.
According to the police, the girl said that when she protested, the accused threatened to kill her and shot her. After eating this, the girl fainted and when she regained consciousness, she found herself locked in a room. There was a lock outside the room, from which the girl somehow managed to extricate herself by shouting.
In this case, a case was registered against the accused under POCSO Act, SCST Act and other sections based on the complaint of the victim girl. The investigation of the case was handed over to ACP Sukhbir Singh. The police took swift action and arrested the accused on the same day, produced him in court and sent him to jail.
