A horrific incident of torture of a minor girl working as a domestic help for a family in Maharashtra’s Nagpur has come to light. Neighbors are shocked by the horrific abuse. The minor girl was not only beaten but also burnt with cigarettes and kept in the dark.

According to the police, a family living in Nagpur’s Atharva Nagri Society brought a 12-year-old girl from Bengaluru to do domestic work. When he made a mistake, he was burned with a hot pan and a cigarette. His private part was also injured. The people she was working for had gone to Bengaluru and during this time she was confined to the house for four days.
The girl’s ordeal came to light when she was found by neighbors. Neighbors heard her screams for help and saw her trying to get out of the house through a window. The neighbors threw him out of the house. He was fed, given water and then informed to the police.
Had to spend the night in the dark
According to the neighbor, the minor girl who worked for the family did not pay the electricity bill of the house, due to which the electricity connection of the house was disconnected. Due to which the girl had to spend her night in the dark and survive only by eating bread. A neighbor said, “One night we saw him trying to get out of the house through the window. We rescued him, fed him and then informed the authorities to take action.” The family reportedly told the girl’s parents that they would arrange for education and good care after taking their daughter to Nagpur.
The girl is undergoing treatment
Sheetal Patil, social worker and member of Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, said the traumatized girl was medically examined and multiple injuries and burn marks were found on her body, including her private parts. The girl is currently undergoing treatment.
Arrest of one accused
One person has been arrested so far in this incident. Police said that a case has been registered against the family and further investigation is underway.
