The Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI may announce the squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 today (September 3). The World Cup is scheduled to be played in India in October-November and the selection committee can select the team for this mega event. However, there are no surprises in the team selection and the probable team is also in front of everyone.
The team was selected by the chairman of the selection committee Ajit Agarkar Asia Cup 2023 was selected for. Three of those players will be dropped and the remaining 15 players will get a place in the squad for the World Cup. The information about who those three players are, who will sit out is also almost clear. According to PTI, the provisional squad will be announced today and the squad may change by September 27.
It is believed that Tilak Verma, the famous Krishna and Sanju Samson will not be in the final fifteen. Asia Cup 2023 was selected for. Sanju Samson has gone as a traveling reserve for the Asia Cup, while Tilak Verma and the legendary Krishna were in the 17-man squad. Apart from these players, the remaining 15 players will be directly selected for the World Cup, but only KL Rahul will be considered.
Although KL Rahul will still get a place in the final fifteen, if he is not fit for the final match of the ODI series against Australia, Sanju Samson may replace him. The board can make changes to their team till September 27. Any change in the team after this will have to be approved by the ICC’s Technical Committee.
