New Delhi. Former Zimbabwe captain and fast bowler Heath Streak passed away early on Sunday morning. He was 49 years old and was battling cancer. There were earlier rumors of Streak’s demise but it turned out to be a rumour. However, this time the family has confirmed the death of the ex-veteran. Heath Streak played 65 Tests, 189 ODIs for Zimbabwe. In this he scored 1990 and 3 thousand runs respectively. But Streak was recognized for his bowling.

He took 216 wickets in Tests and 239 wickets in ODIs and is still the highest wicket-taker for Zimbabwe in both formats.

Heath Streak’s wife Nadine has made an emotional post on Facebook about her husband’s death. “Early this morning, the love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was taken from his home by the angels. He wanted to spend his last days at home. “In his final moments, his family stayed with relatives,” she wrote.

Let us tell that the news of Heath Streak’s death came on August 23. His fellow cricketer Henry Olanga confirmed this by sharing a post on Instagram. However, after some time, Olanga shared a WhatsApp screenshot and called the news of Streak’s demise fake. Then Henry wrote, “The third umpire sent him back and he is alive.” At the same time, Heath Streak himself dismissed the news of his death as a rumor and issued a statement apologizing to those who spread the news.
