Allen-Phillips blasts British home, Kiwis return to T20 series

New Delhi. New Zealand (ENG vs NZ) beat hosts England by 74 runs in the 3rd T20I match thanks to a brilliant innings by openers Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips. Despite this win, the Kiwi team trailed 1-2 in the 4-match series. In the third T20 match played at Edgbaston, Allen and Phillips took the English bowlers very seriously. Both hit shots all over the field. Allan was adjudged player of the match for his fiery innings.

Batting first, New Zealand scored 202 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Finn Allen scored 83 runs off 53 balls with the help of 4 fours and 6 sixes while Glenn Phillips was dismissed with 69 runs off 34 balls. Wicketkeeper Tim Seifert contributed 19 runs. For England, Gus Atkinson took 2 wickets while Luke Wood and Liam Livingstone took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 203 runs, the England team could not even play 20 overs and were bundled out for 128 runs in 18.3 overs. For England, wicketkeeper and captain Jos Buttler scored the highest 40 runs while Moeen Ali played an innings of 26 runs. Only 4 batsmen from England could touch double figures. Kyle Jamieson and Ish Sodhi took three wickets each from New Zealand. Captain Tim Southee took 2 wickets.

The fourth and final T20 will be played on Tuesday
Before this, England defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets in the first T20 match, while in the second T20 match, they defeated the Kiwis by 95 runs. The fourth and final T20 match of the series will be played in Nottingham on Tuesday (September 5).
