Inflation: Given the softness in the prices of many food items, it is being estimated that the inflation rate may begin to decline when the September figures are released. According to ICRA research, tomato prices have declined in August. Also, in the absence of a sharp rise in the prices of vegetables, rice, wheat, milk and pulses, it is likely to touch around six percent by September.
The report said that the impact of export restrictions imposed by the central government to control inflation and increased supply of food items in the open market could be seen. ICRA has expressed hope that the CPI inflation rate may decline to 9.5 percent in August from 10.6 percent in July and six percent in September.
