KL Rahul is going to make a comeback after recovering from injury. He can play in Super-4 round in Asia Cup 2023. Rahul was ruled out of the first two matches of the tournament due to being unfit. It would be wiser to keep Ishan wicket-keeping. Shreyas and KL Rahul may fight for No-4 and No-5.
Rahul has been included in the Indian squad for the World Cup 2023. Ishan is also in the World Cup squad. Gavaskar said that Rahul has proved himself in the past and deserves a place in the World Cup squad. Gavaskar said, “He has performed with the bat and when you prove yourself, you get some leeway. The same has happened in this case too. However, it may be a matter of some concern that he has not played any cricket in the last few months. Now, you have sent him to Sri Lanka. He will be able to play a few matches there and then you will see his fitness.
Gavaskar further said, “In the third week of September, the Indian team is scheduled to play a series of 3 ODI matches against Australia. You still have time for substitutions in the World Cup. The ICC has a technical committee that will assess the injury and decide whether a replacement can be made.
