4 generations of South’s star family immortalized as Sri Krishna, Nanda’s son became hero in 17 films, now Jr. N.T.R.

The Nandamuri family of Tollywood has been entertaining Telugu audiences for generations. One aspect that the Nandamuri family has become famous for over the years is the onscreen portrayal of Hindu gods and goddesses, introduced by their predecessor NT Rama Rao. NTR, Harikrishna, Balakrishna, Master NTR and the fourth generation of Master NTR of the Nandamuri family enthralled the audience dressed as Lord Krishna. Rama Rao is the first name of Lord Krishna for Telugu viewers. Many people played that role after that and even today Telugu people remember Tarakaramu as Lord Krishna.

A song from ‘Aadi’, one of his grandson Jr. NTR’s films says, ‘We own the form of Lord Rama’ and it couldn’t be truer. Various members of the family have played the onscreen characters of Lord Rama. The Nandamuri stars who created a record in Ram’s costume also created a rare record in Lord Krishna’s costume. Yes, one such record is heard when it comes to Lord Krishna. NT Rama Rao’s first mythological film was in 1957 when he played the role of Lord Krishna in Maya Bazar. After this, the senior actor played the Hindu God in 17 more films and created a unique record. The impact of his roles was such that the Telugu audience believed him to be a living incarnation of Lord Krishna. However, the legacy did not stop here but other members of his family also brought the character to life on screen.

NT Rama Rao’s son Harikrishna played the role of Bala Gopal in Sri Krishnaavataram in 1967 as Balakrishna or the child portrayal of Lord Krishna. He was highly praised for his role in the film, in which his father also played the role of the young avatar of Lord Krishna in the film. NTR’s second son Balakrishna continued the family legacy by playing the role of Lord Krishna in Sri Krishnarjuna Vinayasa and Pandurangadu.

NTR first appeared as Sri Krishna in the film ‘Maya Bazar’. But at the age of three, Rama Rao made his Telugu debut as Krishna in a dream song in the 1953 film Iddaru Pelalu. Thus, in more than 30 films, a record is possible for an Angari to mesmerize the audience in the form of Lord Krishna. (Twitter/Photo)

Harikrishna’s son Jr. NTR did the film Vrindavanam in 2010, in which he played a character based on the modern-day Lord Krishna. However, for those who want to see the actor dressed up as Krishna, this may be the plan as well.

Now it is being said that SS Rajamouli has already selected NTR for the role of Lord Krishna in his dream project ‘Mahabharatam’. That means NTR can be seen in Lord Krishna’s getup. However, there is no official confirmation yet. (Twitter/Photo)
