The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest ODI player rankings on Wednesday. India’s star opener Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan have achieved career best rankings. Gill has now moved up to third with a one-place advantage. It has 750 rating points. Gill scored a brilliant half-century against Nepal in Asia Cup 2023. He scored an unbeaten 67 off 62 balls with the help of 8 fours and 1 six. However, Gill’s bat did not work against Pakistan and he managed to score only 10 runs.
At the same time, Ishan has moved up 12 places to 24th in the ODI rankings. He has 624 marks. Ishan batted strongly against Pakistan. After coming in at number five, he scored 82 off 81 balls in difficult conditions. He hit 9 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Ishan did not get to bat against Nepal as India won by 10 wickets. Let us tell you that Pakistan dash Batsman Babar Azam (882 rating) is on top. Babar played a historic innings of 151 runs against Nepal. South Africa’s Rasi van der Dusen (77 points) is second and Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq (732 points) is fourth. Virat Kohli (695) is at the tenth number. There are only two Indians in the top-10. Captain Rohit Sharma (690 points) is at the 11th position.
As far as the ODI bowlers’ rankings are concerned, Pakistan’s pace trio has benefited. After taking six wickets in the first two matches of the Asia Cup, Shaheen Afridi has moved up four places to the fifth position. Haris Rauf jumped 14 places to 29th and Naseem Shah jumped 13 places to 68th. Shaheen took four wickets, Haris and Naseem took three wickets each against India. The Indian team was bundled out for 266 runs. Pakistan team could not bat due to rain. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan (up two places to 10th) and Sri Lankan spinner Mahish Thiksha (up five places to 15th) have also gained.
