Pakistan captain Babar Azam has achieved a great achievement during the match played against Bangladesh in Lahore. Babar has broken the record of former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Babar Azam has become the fastest captain to reach 2000 runs in ODIs. The 28-year-old achieved this feat in 31 innings, while Kohli completed 2000 runs in 36 innings.

Babar Azam achieved the feat during the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the first Super Four match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday. Apart from Babar and Kohli, South Africa’s AB de Villiers is also included in this list. He did it in 41 innings, while Australia’s Michael Clarke did it in 47 and India’s Mahendra Singh Dhoni and England’s Eoin Morgan did it in 48 innings each.

Babar Azam made his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015 and since then has been a regular member of the Pakistan cricket team and has been instrumental in helping the team win consecutive matches. Earlier, Babar Azam broke the record of former South African batsman Hashim Amla. He became the fastest player to score 19 ODI centuries. Azam achieved this feat in 102 innings while Amla achieved this feat in 104 innings.

As for the match, Pakistan scored half-centuries from Imam (78 off 84 balls, five fours, four sixes) and Rizwan (63 not out from 79 balls, seven fours, one six) as they chased down Bangladesh’s target of 194 runs, and both put on 85 for the third wicket. Due to the run partnership, India won by scoring 194 runs for three wickets with 63 balls to spare.
