Over 23,000 militants have been killed by security forces during encounters in Jammu and Kashmir in the last three decades.

Major action will be taken against all local terrorists taking shelter in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said that the properties of all those local militants, who hail from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and fled to Pakistan seeking refuge, will be seized. Addressing a media conference in Rajouri, the DGP said that the police have a list of terrorists who were active in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and then fled to Pakistan to seek refuge.

DGP Dilbagh Singh said, “Their properties are being confiscated and the process will continue. These terrorists are being closely monitored as they continue to promote terrorism by sitting across the Line of Control (LoC). The DGP said that there will be no mercy for those terrorists. If they try to come back, they will be killed. These people are behind the efforts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. 9 to 12 terrorists, most of whom are foreigners, are active in the Rajouri-Poonch range.”

The DGP said, “We have inputs that they are moving from Kulgam-Shopian districts of the Valley to Rajouri-Poonch districts of Jammu division. Three of them have died and the search for the others is on. A militant who slipped from the hills was found dead in Riasi. “One more person was killed in the Rajouri encounter and the third was killed in the Riasi encounter, where the operation is still going on,” the police chief said.

DGP Dilbagh Singh said, “Efforts to revive terrorism across the LoC will not be allowed to succeed. Village Defense Committees (VDCs) are playing a key role in counter-terrorism operations. All major infiltration attempts have been thwarted.” He further said, “To further strengthen the border grid, it has been decided to deploy the police along with the army at specific points along the LoC. He agreed that as long as the shipment of drugs across the border continues, the challenge of stopping drug trafficking will remain. Living.”

The DGP said that some border residents working as members of drug gangs are being identified for strict action.

Most of them are ready to carry out terrorist activities in Kashmir again. Over 23,000 militants have been killed by security forces during encounters in the region in the last three decades. In 2010, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced a “surrender and rehabilitation” policy for those seeking return from PoK. About 300 people returned with their families but more than 4,000 are believed to still be in the camps.

Apart from Encounter, other security agencies including the National Investigation Agency are targeting their bases to stop the funding of terrorist organisations. The seizure of property of Jammu and Kashmir natives who came to PoK to become terrorists is being seen as part of a new move.
