In the Asia Cup 2023, India and Pakistan will once again play a match on September 10. The match between the two in the group round of the Asia Cup was washed out due to rain. The Indian innings was completed but Pakistan could not bowl a single ball in the innings, after which the match had to be abandoned. In that match played on 2 September, the Indian top order was badly crushed against Pakistan. By the score of 66, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill had returned to the pavilion. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya combined to get Team India out of trouble. In the end, the Indian team was all out for 266 runs. Ahead of the Super-4 match against Pakistan, former Indian cricketer and veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has advised the Indian top-order batsmen to be wary of the Pakistani pacers.
In the match played against India on 2 September, Shaheen Afridi spent runs at an economy rate of 3.5 and took four wickets. Naseem Shah spent runs at an economy rate of 4.10 and took three wickets, while Haris Rauf may have spent runs at an economy rate of 6.40 but also took three wickets. Gavaskar called Pakistan’s pace attack with the new ball the best pace attack in the world at present. He said, ‘At one time Australia was at No. 1 and Pakistan at No. 2. Pakistan have always had a good pace attack, but their bowling attack is the most dangerous right now. He has a left-handed-right-handed combination. He can move the ball both ways and that too with pace. It is difficult to play aggressively against him from the first ball.
All the three fast bowlers of Pakistan have bowled strongly in the Asia Cup so far. Only Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi are among the bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Asia Cup 2023. Together these three have tested the batsmen of the opposing team so far. Now it remains to be seen whether the Indian batting order can make a comeback against the Pakistan pacers on September 10 or not?
