The excitement of the Asia Cup will resume after a two-day break, with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka clashing in the Super Four on Saturday.

Batting first after losing the toss, England scored 291 for 6 in 50 overs on the back of half-centuries from captain Jos Buttler (72), David Malan (54), Ben Stokes (52) and Liam Livingstone (52). Put on the run board. The Kiwi bowlers dominated the hosts throughout the innings. Towards the end when England looked to strike, they tried to keep the hosts calm by using slow bouncers.

Chasing this score, New Zealand got off to a good start. Conway shared a 61-run partnership with Will Young (29). After this the team got another blow in the form of Henry Nicholls (26) at 117.

Almost 14 months later, Ben Stokes made a sensational comeback, with four England batsmen scoring fifties against New Zealand.

At that point it looked as though England might claw their way back into the match, but Daryl Mitchell, who had come on to support Conway, found his feet and denied the hosts a wicket. Meanwhile, both the batsmen completed their respective centuries and put on an unbeaten partnership of 180 runs to give the team an easy victory. This is the third highest partnership for the third wicket for New Zealand.

Daryl Mitchell is becoming difficult for any team to stop in ODI cricket. This is the batsman’s third century in the last 5 matches. Conway has crossed the 100-run mark for the fourth time in his first 19 ODIs.
