Sunny Deol and Govinda are Bollywood stars whose charm and stardom can never be lost among Bollywood fans. Especially for those who grew up in the 90s. 26 years ago i.e. in 1997, a film was released which was rejected by Sunny Deol. After Sunny rejected this film, Govinda played the lead role in it. The film was also among the top 10 highest grossing films of that year. This film was directed by David Dhawan.

David Dhawan wanted to work with Sunny Deol along with Anil Kapoor and actress Zeba Bakhtiar in this film. This was an action film. The name of the film was ‘Bodyguard’. Before the shooting of the film started, Zeba left the film due to personal reasons. David made some changes in the script of the film and convinced Sunny to make it a comedy film.

But Sunny Deol was not satisfied with this planning of David Dhawan and then he also left the film. At that time Sunny’s image was that of an action hero. Now only Anil Kapoor is left in this film. David Dhawan offered comic roles to Govinda and Juhi Chawla and both agreed to do the film.

Considering this new cast, David Dhawan changed the name of the film to ‘Deewana Mastana’. The film cost 7 crore rupees to make. The film made a box office collection of 24.33 crore rupees. Anil Kapoor and Govinda had very good chemistry in comic roles too. The trio of Juhi, Anil and Govinda were the most liked.

When ‘Deewana Mastana’ became a hit at the box office, the brand value of Govinda, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla increased. But Sunny Deol, who rejected him, kept on wringing his hands. However, in later years Sunny Deol gave action films like ‘Zhor’, ‘Salakhen’ and ‘Arjun Pandit’.
