Australia won the World Cup title for the sixth time by defeating India by 6 wickets. Although India lost the match, a different record was set in this final. In fact the World Cup final between India and Australia became the most watched program on TV. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah gave this information.
Tweeting from his X account, Jai Shah said, “The World Cup final between India and Australia became the most watched event in Indian history. Around 30 crore people watched the World Cup final on TV. Around 13 crore people were watching the final simultaneously. At the same time, the digital currency was 5.9 crore. Indian fans are overwhelmed with love and passion for our game. Let us tell you that this is Australia’s sixth World Cup title. The team defeated Team India in the final for the second time. Before this, the Kangaroo team defeated the Indian team in the 2003 final. Australia has won the World Cup title in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and now in 2023. On the other hand, the Indian team has not won the World Cup title since 2011.
In the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, Team India could not go beyond the semi-finals. Even as a captain, Rohit Sharma has not been able to win an ICC tournament title so far. In 2022 T20 World Cup, the Indian team lost in the semi-finals.
