Conway played an innings of 111 runs off 121 balls. However, Daryl Mitchell showed his real strength in the first ODI for New Zealand. He scored 118 runs off 91 balls. Mitchell hit 7 sixes and as many fours in this innings. That is, he scored 70 runs with the help of only sixes and fours. Mitchell and Conway put on an unbeaten stand of 180 runs for the third wicket.
Before this, England scored 291 runs in 50 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Captain Jos Buttler from England played the highest innings of 72 runs.
