Afghan cricketer’s U-turn, never a threat to play in this league, now…

Melbourne. Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has withdrawn threats of a boycott from Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) and made himself available for the T20 franchise’s 2023-24 season of the tournament. Rashid had threatened to boycott the BBL in January this year following Australia’s decision to pull out of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in March last year. Australia withdrew from the ODI series in protest at the Taliban government’s decision to ban girls’ education in Afghanistan.

Rashid then said, ‘If Australia is having trouble playing Afghanistan, I don’t want to upset anyone with my presence in the BBL. That is why I will seriously consider my future in this competition.

BBL will be organized from December 7
According to the Australian Associated Press, the 24-year-old spinner has been named in the official list of foreign players in the BPL draft. The report said that apart from Rashid, the names of Afghanistan’s Mujeeb ur Rehman, Noor Ahmed and Izhar ul Haq Naveed are also included in this list. The BBL will be held from December 7 to January 24. Rashid has been playing for the Adelaide Strikers for the last six seasons of the BBL.
