Washington. The Pentagon announced a new $600 million long-term aid package for Ukraine on Thursday, a day after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Ukraine.
Secretary of State Anthony Blinken also pledged $1 billion in new military and humanitarian aid during the visit. The Ministry of Defense said that the new package Ukraine Security assistance will be delivered through the initiative.
This assistance includes equipment to maintain and consolidate Ukraine’s air defense systems, including High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). Arms and ammunitionElectronic warfare and countermeasures equipment, mine clearance equipment as well as training and maintenance.
Since Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the Biden administration has been continuously aiding the country and has announced huge sums of money in between. Blinken announced during a visit to Kiev on Wednesday that the Pentagon will pay about $175 million for weapons that will be delivered from the Pentagon’s stockpile. In addition, an additional $100 million grant will be provided to Ukraine to purchase weapons and equipment.
The foreign minister also announced that the US would provide about $805 million in non-arms aid to Ukraine, the State Department said.
