New Delhi. Asia Cup 2023 is being organized in Sri Lanka along with Pakistan. In the opening matches of the tournament, several matches were disrupted due to rain. Super 4 matches are to be played after the league stage. Due to continuous rain in Colombo, there were talks of shifting the match from here. Pakistan had also proposed to hold the match instead but the ACC has now decided not to change the venue.
Flood-like conditions were witnessed in Colombo, Sri Lanka due to heavy rains in the last few days. There were reports that Colombo might be stripped of hosting the Super 4 match of the Asia Cup due to rain. The Pakistan Cricket Board had also proposed to the Asian Cricket Council to shift these matches to itself. However, the idea of shifting the match to another venue in Sri Lanka was on the cards when the situation took a turn for the worse.
It is being said that Hambantota was being talked about as the weather there is the best at this time. Dambulla is also being considered for holding a Super 4 match. Now the news is coming out that the Asian Cricket Council has decided to hold the match in Colombo itself. All matches will be played as per pre-fixed schedule. The Super 4 match is scheduled to start from September 6. The first Super 4 match will be played in Lahore, Pakistan. After this the match will be played in Colombo. The match between India and Pakistan is to be played on September 10.
India’s match affected by rain
The first match played between India and Pakistan could not be completed due to rain. It was not Pakistan’s turn to bat. The match played between India and Nepal was also frequently disrupted due to rain. A revised target of 145 runs was set against India in 23 overs while Nepal scored 230 runs.
