Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Roger Binny has confirmed that he will travel to Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hosted an official dinner in Lahore to host the Asia Cup 2023, with the BCCI boss confirming a visit to Pakistan as the board’s representative. Binny has said that Vice President Rajiv Shukla and I will reach Pakistan on September 4.
According to an ESPN Cricinfo report, it is likely that Roger Binny and Rajiv Shukla will also be seen in a match at the Gaddafi Stadium on September 3 or 5 during their two-day visit. At the same time, a sports news agency said that the current PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf had sent an official invitation to BCCI top brass on August 15. After this, there was talk of BCCI officials going to Pakistan.
Binny said, “I have no hesitation in going to Pakistan. My visits to Pakistan are always memorable, Pakistanis are very hospitable.” He expressed hope that his visit to Pakistan would benefit India-Pakistan cricket relations. Notably, Binny’s visit to Pakistan for the Asia Cup will be his first in 18 years. The last time the BCCI president visited the country was in 2005 for an Asian Cricket Council camp. The Pakistan Cricket Board has the hosting rights of the Asia Cup and the board has already decided to organize the tournament on a hybrid model, with four matches to be played in Pakistan and the rest in Sri Lanka.
