Bangladesh fast bowler Ibadat Hussain on Tuesday was ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup due to a knee injury sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan last month. Ibadat was included in the 17-man squad for the Asia Cup 10 days ago but failed to recover from the injury in time.
20-year-old uncapped fast bowler Tanjim Hasan has been included in the Bangladesh squad in place of Ibadat. Whether the 29-year-old will regain fitness in time for the ODI World Cup in India from October 5 remains to be seen.
‘ESPNcricinfo’ Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physician Dr. “Ibadat has been in rehab (recovery from injury) for six weeks. We have done his MRI several times during this time but he has not fully recovered from the injury,” Devashish Chaudhary was quoted as saying.
