Chandrayaan-3 ‘landing’ front page in Pakistani media despite strained bilateral ties

The headlines of most Pakistani newspapers and websites were ‘India becomes first country to land on Moon’s South Pole’.

This was India’s second attempt to land a spacecraft on the Moon and the success came less than a week after Russia’s Luna-25 mission failed.

‘Jio News’ published news about the landing on its web desk stating that India’s Chandrayaan-3 has landed on the moon from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota after a 40-day journey and a history of space mishaps.

‘The News International’, ‘The Dawn’, ‘Business Recorder’, ‘Dunya News’ and others have published news from various international news agencies.

Fawad Chaudhary, who was the Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister in the Imran Khan-led government, called it a great moment for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Chaudhary, a former senior member of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, said on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), “Moon landing of Chandrayaan-3 is a great moment for ISRO, I wish many young scientists join ISRO.” Seen celebrating this moment with Chairman Somnath; Only the young generation with dreams can change the world… Good luck.”

Before the landing, he said, “All eyes are on Chandrayaan-3 landing on the moon at 5:40 pm, a great day for the Indian science community and space scientists, congratulations to the people of India on this great achievement.”

Earlier, he had asked the Pakistani media to ‘livestream’ the moon landing of Chandrayaan.
