Chandrayaan-3: Where Vikram landed on the moon, NASA captured image, see

Chandrayaan-3 Latest Pictures: US space agency NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) recently took a picture of the Chandrayaan-3 lander on the Moon. He shared this picture on his X handle (formerly Twitter). This image was taken by LRO on August 27, four days after the historic moon landing. India’s historic third Chandrayaan mission successfully landed near the Moon’s south pole on August 23. India is the first country in the world to do so.

The space agency (NASA) shared the image on social media platform X (X-earlier Twitter) and wrote, ‘LRO spacecraft has recently taken a picture of the Chandrayaan-3 lander on the lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3 of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO) successfully landed about 600 km from the south pole of the Moon on 23 August 2023. Four days later, a camera attached to NASA’s orbiter took an oblique photo of the Vikram lander at a 42-degree slew angle as it touched down (the lunar soil).

NASA further wrote, ‘The bright halo around the vehicle was caused by the interaction of the rocket plume with fine-grained regolith (soil).

On 23 August, India’s Chandrayaan-3 lander module successfully landed on the South Pole of the Moon, becoming the first country to achieve the historic feat. India has become the fourth country after America, China and Russia to successfully land on the surface of the Moon.

Multi-channel images of the lunar surface have been shared by ISRO.
