Now the Afghanistan Cricket Board has contacted the Asian Cricket Council i.e. ACC regarding this. The Afghan board has said in the complaint that the officials who showed negligence regarding the run rate should be punished. If our employees are also found guilty, they will also be punished.
According to Tolo News, Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesperson Mohammad Naseem Sadat said that the run rate issue was relaxed. The team had to suffer the consequences. Talking about the Afghanistan and Sri Lanka match, the Afghanistan team returned to the pavilion after scoring 289 runs in 37.4 overs while chasing the target of 292 runs given against Sri Lanka. After the 37th over, Afghanistan’s score was 289 for 8. Before the match, the Afghanistan team was told that they would have to win the match in 37.1 overs. In such a situation, he was supposed to score 3 runs in one ball, but this could not happen.

At the other end of the match was Rashid Khan. After this, the net run rate revealed that the Afghanistan team could still overtake Sri Lanka. If Afghanistan had scored 293 runs in 37.2 overs, 294 runs in 37.3 overs, 295 runs in 37.5 overs, 296 runs in 38 overs and 297 runs in 38.1 overs, they could have overtaken Sri Lanka in terms of run-rate. Fazal Haq Farooqui, who came to bat at number-11, was not aware of this.
