Former US President Donald Trump was arrested Thursday from a Georgia prison on charges of fraud and conspiracy to try to overturn the results of the 2020 election in the southern state.
According to CNN, protesters gathered outside the jail could be heard chanting against District Attorney Fannie Willis, who has charged Trump and 18 others with election fraud.
Trump’s surrender in Georgia marks the fourth time this year that a former president has turned himself in to local or federal authorities after criminal charges were filed against him.
