Dream Girl 2 Movie Review: Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Pandey’s film ‘Dreamgirl’ has released in theaters today. After stars like Govinda, Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann is among the list of actors who have done well with a female character in their entire film. In the first film, where Ayushmann was seen doing most of the work with his velvety and heart-wrenching voice, this time Pooja is seen doing wonders with her style. However, if the story is not strong in a film with the best acting, it can also be fragmented. Director Raj Shandil in his debut ‘Dreamgirl’ has shown the story of people’s loneliness in comedy style. But will Dreamgirl 2 also prove to be a terrific laugh ride, let me tell you.
What the story says: The story of Dreamgirls 2 begins this time in Agra, where Karma Kumar Mathurawale (Ayushmann Khurrana) lives with his father. Both of them are badly in debt as they have taken many loans but have no means to repay them. Karma dances and sings at the vigil and now has a girlfriend Pari (Ananya Pandey). Pari is a lawyer herself and loves Karma, but Pari’s father puts conditions like a house, a bank balance of 10-12 lakhs and a good job for Karma to become his son-in-law. To fulfill this condition of his future father-in-law, Karam looks for a job, but ends up having to earn money by posing as a girl. How long will this lie of Karam last and amidst all this how will he be able to get the girl in his life whom he loves so much. This will have to be seen.

Whatever you want to read, let me tell you in advance that yes, ‘Dreamgirl 2’ is just as fun and interesting one-liners as before. Chances are, on some occasions, this movie will make you laugh more than the first movie. But this time there are many loopholes in the story. There is nothing surprising in the story, as the whole world is crazy about Pooja, even in the first film and now in the second film as well. Nothing new or different. Again and again it seems that except Pooja i.e. Ayushmann, everyone in the entire story is a fool who doesn’t understand anything.
Where did Ananya Pandey come from in Desi Kahani?
Ayushmann is doing so much to get love that Ananya’s character does not show the intensity of love. Instead of Ananya, you will see Ayushmann with his Punjabi friend Smiley aka Manjot Singh in the film. In one scene, Ananya is pitching her boyfriend an idea to earn crores by selling his very childish paintings and Karma’s friend Smiley makes fun of her. In this scene, Ananya looks like a silly girl who doesn’t understand that she is being mocked. On the other hand Ananya is shown to be a lawyer by profession. Ananya’s character proves to be the most mis-fit in the entire film. I think it’s the director’s fault more than Ananya’s because ultimately this is the character, don’t you understand. Ananya neither gets screen space nor fits anywhere in this desi story.
Ananya Pandey has been seen romancing Ayushmann this time.
Karma is worship for Ayushman…
Dreamgirl 2 is the story of Pooja Ayushmann and Ayushmann has once again proved with this film how completely justice is done to her character. At the very beginning of the film, she dances as Pooja in a bar. Trust me, the elegance of a girl, her dancing moves with which Ayushman performed as Pooja, will amaze you.
Secret of winning and Seema’s style
Many of the old characters from the first film have been reintroduced in a new style. This time there is a new entry in the film by Rajpal Yadav and Seema Pahwa and what a great entry they have made. Interestingly, after becoming Ayushman’s mother-in-law in some films and his mother in one film, Seema will be seen trying to romance Ayushman as Jumani. As an actor, it is a triumph of his performance that he is so convincing in all these characters.
The first part of the story is very funny and entertaining. The scenes between Anu Kapoor and Ayushmann have become very funny. The second film also has an army of supporting actors and all of them put their best foot forward in the film. Vijay Raj, Seema Pahwa and Anu Kapoor have also been seen shining separately in this army. At the same time, in the second half, things seem to drag a bit. The climax disappointed me the most. The earlier film had a hidden message that people who are lonely in the crowd need someone for love, but in this film, Karam aka Pooja tells everyone the importance of relationships, but it doesn’t prove to be that effective. Also, the film’s weakest link is Ananya Pandey who doesn’t seem to fit anywhere in this Agra environment.

What is HIT: The film’s brilliant writing and superb acting make it a fun entertainer, which you will enjoy with friends and family. There will be many moments when you laugh out loud. Apart from this, excellent acting will not let you feel bored anywhere in this story.
What was missed: You may feel a little more confused this time in the film. Also, in the climax, you won’t see that power, which can cover the laughs in the story so far. Also, Ananya didn’t quite fit in this environment.

Dream Girl 2 is Ayushmann Khurrana’s film and many of the supporting actors present in the film have shouldered the full responsibility of making him laugh. The dialogues of the film will make you laugh a lot, but you may find many things in the story problematic. Dream Girl 2 is a theatrical film, which you can enjoy with your friends and family in the cinema hall itself. 2.5 stars for this movie from me.
